In July 2018 St. Paul Catholic School was awarded a Secured School Safety Grant by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. The grant is part of a program created in 2013 to support initiatives to ensure schools are safe and secure. St. Paul Catholic School was awarded $19,312.80 from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. As this is a 50 percent matching grant program, the total grant was valued at $38,625.60

Improvements made possible through this grant included:

• A double locked door and entry release system to reduce ease of access to classrooms, the cafeteria and other common student areas of the school building,
• Replacement of the door between the gymnasium and classrooms,
• Installation of security cameras at all entrances, hallways, the cafeteria and lobby area,
• Updates to the School Safety Plan, and
• Continued training of staff on safety procedures.
